This expression has its origin in the story of the Flood. The dove sent out of the ark by Noah brought him an olive leaf as a testimony that the flood was over, dry land appeared, God's wrath was replaced by mercy (Genesis 8:11). Subsequently, the image of a dove with an olive (olive) branch was used as a symbol of reconciliation, a symbol of peace.
