34:0Praise for Deliverance from Trouble.
Of David, when he feigned madness before Abimelech, so that he drove him out, and he went away.
34:1I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
34:2My soul makes its boast in the Lord ; let the humble hear and be glad.
34:3O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.
34:4I sought the Lord , and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.
34:5Look to him, and be radiant; so your faces shall never be ashamed.
34:6This poor soul cried, and was heard by the Lord , and was saved from every trouble.
34:7The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.
34:8O taste and see that the Lord is good; happy are those who take refuge in him.
34:9O fear the Lord , you his holy ones, for those who fear him have no want.
34:10The young lions suffer want and hunger, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
34:11Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord .
34:12Which of you desires life, and covets many days to enjoy good?
34:13Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit.
34:14Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
34:15The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry.
34:16The face of the Lord is against evildoers, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
34:17When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles.
34:18The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit.
34:19Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord rescues them from them all.
34:20He keeps all their bones; not one of them will be broken.
34:21Evil brings death to the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.
34:22The Lord redeems the life of his servants; none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.
141:0Prayer for Preservation from Evil.
A Psalm of David.
141:1I call upon you, O Lord ; come quickly to me; give ear to my voice when I call to you.
141:2Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice.
141:3Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord ; keep watch over the door of my lips.
141:4Do not turn my heart to any evil, to busy myself with wicked deeds in company with those who work iniquity; do not let me eat of their delicacies.
141:5Let the righteous strike me; let the faithful correct me. Never let the oil of the wicked anoint my head, for my prayer is continually against their wicked deeds.
141:6When they are given over to those who shall condemn them, then they shall learn that my words were pleasant.
141:7Like a rock that one breaks apart and shatters on the land, so shall their bones be strewn at the mouth of Sheol.
141:8But my eyes are turned toward you, O God , my Lord; in you I seek refuge; do not leave me defenseless.
141:9Keep me from the trap that they have laid for me, and from the snares of evildoers.
141:10Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I alone escape.
