16:0Song of Trust and Security in God.
A Miktam of David.
16:1Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge.
16:2I say to the Lord , “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.”
16:3As for the holy ones in the land, they are the noble, in whom is all my delight.
16:4Those who choose another god multiply their sorrows; their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names upon my lips.
16:5The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot.
16:6The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; I have a goodly heritage.
16:7I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me.
16:8I keep the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
16:9Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices; my body also rests secure.
16:10For you do not give me up to Sheol, or let your faithful one see the Pit.
16:11You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
17:0Prayer for Deliverance from Persecutors.
A Prayer of David.
17:1Hear a just cause, O Lord ; attend to my cry; give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit.
17:2From you let my vindication come; let your eyes see the right.
17:3If you try my heart, if you visit me by night, if you test me, you will find no wickedness in me; my mouth does not transgress.
17:4As for what others do, by the word of your lips I have avoided the ways of the violent.
17:5My steps have held fast to your paths; my feet have not slipped.
17:6I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God; incline your ear to me, hear my words.
17:7Wondrously show your steadfast love, O savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at your right hand.
17:8Guard me as the apple of the eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings,
17:9from the wicked who despoil me, my deadly enemies who surround me.
17:10They close their hearts to pity; with their mouths they speak arrogantly.
17:11They track me down; now they surround me; they set their eyes to cast me to the ground.
17:12They are like a lion eager to tear, like a young lion lurking in ambush.
17:13Rise up, O Lord , confront them, overthrow them! By your sword deliver my life from the wicked,
17:14from mortals—by your hand, O Lord — from mortals whose portion in life is in this world. May their bellies be filled with what you have stored up for them; may their children have more than enough; may they leave something over to their little ones.
17:15As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake I shall be satisfied, beholding your likeness.
65:0Thanksgiving for Earth's Bounty.
To the leader. A Psalm of David. A Song.
65:1Praise is due to you, O God, in Zion; and to you shall vows be performed,
65:2O you who answer prayer! To you all flesh shall come.
65:3When deeds of iniquity overwhelm us, you forgive our transgressions.
65:4Happy are those whom you choose and bring near to live in your courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, your holy temple.
65:5By awesome deeds you answer us with deliverance, O God of our salvation; you are the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas.
65:6By your strength you established the mountains; you are girded with might.
65:7You silence the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, the tumult of the peoples.
65:8Those who live at earth's farthest bounds are awed by your signs; you make the gateways of the morning and the evening shout for joy.
65:9You visit the earth and water it, you greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; you provide the people with grain, for so you have prepared it.
65:10You water its furrows abundantly, settling its ridges, softening it with showers, and blessing its growth.
65:11You crown the year with your bounty; your wagon tracks overflow with richness.
65:12The pastures of the wilderness overflow, the hills gird themselves with joy,
65:13the meadows clothe themselves with flocks, the valleys deck themselves with grain, they shout and sing together for joy.
