The above order is that followed in Inter-Orthodox gatherings. The Orthodox Church in America, formerly the Russian Orthodox Metropolia, was granted autocephalous status by the Patriarchate of Moscow in 1970. This status, however, is not recognized by all churches. Likewise, the autonomous status of the Church of Japan is not recognized by all churches.
