LOSSKY, NICOLAS V

LOSSKY, NICOLAS V., theologian, ecumenist. Born in Paris (the son of Vladimir Lossky [q.v.]), he is professor at the University of Paris X-Nanterre and at St. Sergius Orthodox Theological Institute (q.v.). As with his father, he is associated with the Moscow Patriarchate. He is a member of the World Council of Churches Plenary Commission on Faith and Order and served as a delegate for the Russian Orthodox Church at the 7th WCC Assembly at Canberra. He is the author of Lancelot Andrewes the Preacher (1555–1626): The Origins of the Mystical Theology of the Church of England (trans. 1991) and an editor of and contributor to the Dictionary of the Ecumenical Movement (1991).
